Opening an Airsoft Field

So you have the airsoft gun, ammo, the tactical gear, and most importantly you convinced some friends to hop on board, what is left? Now you just need a place to utilize all your new equipment. If you are lucky enough to live in one of the airsoft hot spots, there is no lack of places to play. However for the other ninety percent, we usually have to rely on the generosity of private property owners.

Some of my fondest airsoft memories are of a small group playing on a private wooded lot or friend's farm. As our group grew and more and more new faces arrived, it became apparent the need for a legitimate field was necessary. Your neighbor may be fine with you and a dozen of your friends and co-workers using his overgrown acreage to play airsoft, but when that number grows to a couple dozen private property owners begin to get nervous.

Whether you choose to lease space or use your personal property, airsoft field insurance is your next step. Insurance for airsoft usually runs a couple thousand dollars a year and covers the big three: property damage, liability, and medical. The insurance company may require copies of lease agreements, field diagrams, field rules, and a legal waiver.

Lease agreements and field diagrams I will touch on briefly. Make sure the person you are leasing from is fully aware of what you intend to do with the property, and make sure your airsoft field is legal under your lease and abides all local laws. You do not want to find out later that your time and money are wasted because of a technicality. Field diagrams need not be detailed, a simple outline will suffice, and the insurance company appear to be most concerned with entrances and exits.

You will need to supply field rules before most insurance companies will even supply you with a quote. Whether good or bad, the insurance company will dictate most of the rules you will need. The remaining field rules usually entail the administrative and management of the field, and will be dependent on your field layout and the types of games you will be hosting. A lot of fields have rules posted on the internet and can be a good jumping off point.

The legal waiver should be drawn up by a local attorney. Hosting an event of this type is nothing out of the norm; most will charge a nominal fee to draft one for you. You may have to take a little time to acquaint your attorney with airsoft, and it may not be a bad idea to let them review your lease agreement will you are there.

Opening an airsoft field does not require a great deal money beyond the property lease. Once you have all of the legal aspects taken care of, the real work begins. How are you going to construct, manage, and operate your new field? Now the hard work begins.

DE M56AL Tri-Shot Long Airsoft Shotgun

I am a huge fan of shotguns, they are big, loud, and brutal. The "M56AL" competes to do just that. This shotgun is produced by the company Double Eagle which hasn't exactly had a reputation of building the highest quality replicas. Let's see if this breaks the trend.

Appearance/Feel/Handling-
There is no mistaking this shotgun for the real thing, the exterior is mediocre.

Stock: The stock is made of a lightly textured plastic. It is decently solid although it is a little creaky between the stock and the receiver. There is a sling mount on the side of the stock although I'm not sure I'd rely on the pot metal it's made of. The butt pad is firmly mounted and made of a shiny, hard rubber. It offers a bit more grip in the shoulder but not much else.

Receiver: The plastic on the receiver is shiny and has no texture. The plastic is adequate but not impressive. A firm squeeze yields a bit of bend, proof the material is maybe a bit soft. There are some very, very small mold marks but nothing I'd be upset about.

Grip and Forestock: The grip and pump are both covered in the same rubberized coating. The coating offers better grip and looks much better than the rest of the bare plastic on the replica. After handling, the rubber shows the oil from your hands. There is a thick seem in the bottom of the pump. Overall, I'm glad the rubber texture is there but it's not perfect.

Each pump slides from here...

....to here.

Outer Barrel Area: The outer barrel and cocking tube are both made of metal. Pot metal but metal none-the-less. An orange plastic ring is glued to the end to identify that it is not real. A sling mount is placed in front, but again I'm not sure I'd trust it.

The shotgun is easy to snap to the shoulder but has some issues with feel. The trigger is too far and too high so it feels like a bit of a stretch. The location of the pump also feels a bit far away, from the perspective of someone who is 5'10".

Performance-
The performance of this shotgun is reminiscent of a real shotgun, short range and spread accuracy. With each pump this replica fires three bbs. This is a cool feature however it doesn't work as perfectly as you'd hope. Up to about 15-20 yards all three bbs will impact within the size of a torso. After that distance though one bb curves sharply up, one bb curves sharply down, and one bb flies true. This means that after 20 yards only one bb is truely effective, this one bb though reaches out about 30 yards. All things considered this shotgun should be used for CQC and other short range scenarios. I would not recommend this for field use, you simply won't keep up with AEGs.

FPS: 302.6 with AE .2 on Madbull chrono

The trigger is a little sloppy but the user can still feel when it is about to release. The trigger pull is short but heavy. Pumping the shotgun is not too strenuous. The pull is deceiving, you have to pull back further than you think you should. There is a thick click at the end of the pull.

The replica uses a 30 round shell as a magazine. It can be easily loaded and works perfectly.

Problems-
The metal used in this replica is nothing special so this may become a problem in the future. I do question the long term reliability of this replica. The way this springer works puts a lot of stress on the internal components which may eventually result in their failure.

Conclusion-
This shotgun does not give a lot in the way of performance but is still fun to mess around with. It would work for close quarters but is unusable in any kind of ranged encounter.

Pros:
-Price
-3 shots per pump
-Shell magazine

Cons:
-Short range
-Build materials
-Unrealistic feel

Valuable Airsoft Guns Accessories

An airsoft gun accessory can be the missing link between having an average gun for the sport of airsoft and having a qualified specialized gun for the game. If you make certain additions to your airsoft gun, you will have the ability to play the game better and with more exacting precision. This grants you the ability to punish your opponents and become the ultimate master of airsoft, all for the addition of a simple airsoft gun accessory. These accessories are traditionally made in Asia and are offered as parts of packages or other deals on the airsoft merchandise.

There are ways for the airsoft gun accessory to be purchased in North America, for example, and this is generally done online over the internet or with a catalog that is sometimes available from various airsoft dealers. There are professional airsoft shops throughout the world now, offering great advice and other merchandise to go with your airsoft gun. For this reason, the sport is becoming more and more popular and is fast shooting its way to the top of the adventure game charts. It is even beginning to surpass paintball and other games of adventure and survival.

Picking Your Accessory

You may want to consider your airsoft gun accessory in terms of a survival unit. When shopping for an accessory for your gun, you should term it in terms of what you want and what you need for survival. Wants should be secondary to needs, so ensure that you are filling your shopping cart up with the essentials first and the extras second. You may want to consider a variety of scopes that will improve your shot monitoring, for example, so these should be considered as a want or a need depending on how your shot is without a scope. If it needs work, you probably need a scope.

Other things to consider to purchase as an airsoft gun accessory could be a carrying case or some sort of grips that you can add to the handle. This, again, will fall under either the want or need category. As far as any airsoft gun accessory goes, the assessment should be made by the user as everyone is going to use the gun a different way and experience the game in unique forms. This is part of the appeal, making airsoft one of the most unique and user-specific games on the planet for adventure and fun.

Guide to Gas Blowback Airsoft Gun

A gas blowback airsoft gun enables you to experience the power of other counterpart replicas and airsoft guns with the power of gas as the main propellant to the pellets. Using these guns is becoming more and more popular because of the approaching popularity of the overwhelmingly exciting sport of airsoft. Airsoft is the latest in survival sports games sweeping the country, with comparisons to paintball and laser tag barely doing it justice. With a glass gas blowback airsoft gun at your side, you can be an airsoft force to be reckoned with out on the field of play.

Airsoft is a competitive sports combat-related game that enables players to shoot one another with BBs or pellets from airsoft guns like the gas blowback airsoft gun. These guns are effectively replica guns of their real counterparts and look so close to the real thing that they are often confused with the actual firepower. Using these guns requires extreme safety and caution, so airsoft is not recommended for minors or those without the ability to fire a gun and maintain safety regulations. Regulations are in place at all licensed airsoft facilities and should be followed to the letter of the law.

There are several options for a gun for play in airsoft. Personally, I enjoy the gas blowback airsoft gun because it allows a considerable amount of power and force with the power of gas behind the pellets. This type of system is generally less noisy than the electric or other counterparts, enabling the user a lot more in the way of "sneaky" fire on their opponents. Firing pellets at the speed that the gas blowback airsoft gun allows is quite the exhilarating experience and should be felt by everyone with a desire to fire a real gun but no capabilities to do so.

A Final Word On Safety

When you are dealing with a gas blowback airsoft gun, be sure that you are in tune with the safety mechanisms at all times so that you do not encounter any sort of accidental firing of the gun or any other accidental moves that could cause injury or death. This type of weapon should be taken seriously at all times as it is exactly what it says it is: a weapon. The fact that it is a replica does not negate any dangerous aspects to the equipment, so take care with your gas blowback airsoft gun and follow all precautions.

Taking Proper Care of Your Airsoft Gun

As an airsoft gun owner, you should want to take care of your investment so that it can be used and enjoyed for years into the future. Having an airsoft gun that wears out before it's time or starts malfunctioning due to poor airsoft gun care is not only entirely avoidable, but also really unnecessary. If you've just purchased an airsoft gun and are looking for ways to keep it in prime condition, here are some great airsoft gun care tips to consider.

Cleaning the Barrel

The barrel of your airsoft gun should be cleaned after every use. If you live in a sandy environment, this is especially important. If you own an electric airsoft gun, you'll want to fire several shots in the semi-automatic mode in order to decompress the gearbox once you're done firing, though some guns have a button which will decompress the spring. With spring air guns, be sure not to leave the gun cocked, with the safety on to help prevent accidental injury. You'll also want to consider spraying a non-corrosive silicone spray into the gun barrel and hop-up chamber occasionally to help keep your airsoft gun in good working order.

Magazine Care

For electric and spring airsoft guns, you'll want to empty the magazine after each use to help preserve the strength of the magaine spring. This will help ensure long time enjoyment from your airsoft gun. Magazines for gas airsoft pistols though should be left pressurized so that all the necessary seals stay in tact. If the gas you're using doesn't havae silicon lubricant in it, then add a drop or two on the internals, otherwise you should be all right. Always remember that when expelling gas from your airsoft gun to never use the release valve, as you run the risk of freezing the O ring which can cause gas leakage in the future.

Observing the Batteries

Batteries are an important part of the lifepan of electric airsoft guns. Be sure to use batteries with the correct voltage. A battery with excess voltage will cause the gearbox to cycle at a rate that could damage internal components of your gun; while a battery with voltage too low can result in lack of power to cycle the gearbox at all. You will also need to be aware of the mAh of your battery. This will indicate how long a battery will continue to power your gearbox. Batteries with a higher mAh have a higher current draw which will increase the firing rate of your gun.

Airsoft Gun Touch Ups

As you continue to use and enjoy your airsoft gun, you may notice the paint starting to scratch or wear off. Experts typically advise against touching up your gun. If a full repainting is required be sure to use a flat, enamel based spray such as Krylon, or check with an airsoft retailer who will offer painting service to return your airsoft gun to it's original appearance.

With the proper airsoft gun care, you can ensure that your air gun will be in excellent working order for many years to come!
