MP5 Airsoft Gun - Galaxy GK5 Review

Galaxy GK5 Review

Interested In Airsoft Guns?

If you are in the market for high grade MP5 airsoft guns you need to look no further then the galaxy G5K. Below will will offer our review of the galaxy G5K MP5 personal defense weapon, or PDW as it is commonly known.

First Impression

To start with the first thing that will impress you about this gun is the price, most online retailers will offer it for under $100. But do not be fooled by the low prices because unlike other guns in this price range this is not a plastic low grade weapon but rather a full metal solidly built soft air gun that looks and feels like the real thing.

Build Quality

When you first pick it up you will be amazed by the weight of the gun for its size, this is due to the amount of metal used in its construction. You will also notice how tight it fits together and how solid it feels when you hold it. You will feel no loose handles or grips or rattles with this weapon. In fact even the included 240 round magazine snaps tightly into place with little to no wobble.

Performance

Out of the box using.2 gram BB's this air soft gun will shoot 320-330 feet per second with a rate of fire that is in the range of 9-11 rounds per second. In tests we were able to accurately shoot out to a range of about 75 feet, after that accuracy degraded quickly. Although if you want an MP5 airsoft gun you realize that they are meant for close quarter battle and not long range shots!

Negatives

No honest review would be complete without pointing out something that was not liked about the product. Although it was very hard to find something we did not like about this gun it would have to be the paint on the firing switch looked old and faded right out of the box. Although not a big problem or one that will affect performance it is still worth mentioning.

Our Final Verdict

When it comes to high grade mp5 airsoft guns the galaxy G5K really stands out from the rest of the crowd. With great construction, low price and good performance it makes perfect sense for anyone who wants to inexpensively get into air soft and have a weapon that can advance with them through the hobby.

The Story Behind the Gun and Its Purchase:
What American-born aisofter doesn’t like the M1 Garand and all its descendants? Well, humor aside, I had my eye on the TSD Socom II for some time before I purchased it on my 21st birthday. When I first held the gun, I was in awe at its rock-solid composition and realistic weight. Mind you, the real Socom II is a pound or two heavier (or so I’ve read), but the rifle still had a very comfortable feel and weight. I bought the gun and it’s been in my room for some time now, and only now have I collected enough data to write a review.

First Impressions:
Heavy. That’ll be the first thing you’ll think. For a mostly plastic spring rifle, it has a very hefty feel. The cocking lever requires a bit of strength to pull consecutively, but it gives the gun an awesome feel (you’ll get used to it too). The safety is still the same way as a realsteel’s: a lever at the trigger guard that when pointed back to the trigger it locked the trigger. The magazine sports 37 rounds, plenty for this gun to fire in a game to provide some minor suppression fire or pseudo-sniper fire. Yes, I said it: sniper fire. This gun’s hop-up is a little quirky in that at a certain point, the BB’s will arc to the left. Getting this adjusted to shoot as straight and far as possible is a little tedious, add that to zeroing in an adjustable hunting scope, and it requires a little more patience. However, once that chore is out or the way, you get a cheap wannabe sniper rifle effective up to about 150 feet (50 meters), give or take a few feet/meters. I also found that while disassembling most of the gun that the stock is actually a separate part of the rifle. If you have the time and patience to whittle and drill out a real wood stock for a Garand or M14/M1A, you can attach a real stock to the TSD rifle….but that’s a task for a later, much later day.

Size: 9:10
Definitely a primary. If you are trying to use something this big as a secondary, you’re either as big as Volgin, or you have more limbs than the average human.

Design: 9:10
The RIS rails get in the way of the iron sights when attached, but otherwise a nice look for the gun.

Comfort: 9:10
Supremely comfortable. I think it was Patton who said “This is the greatest battle rifle ever…” or something like that (he was talking about the Garand, though). The teardrop grip is checkered and comfy to hold and aim with, and I love that the charging handle is metal. Cold steel is a great feeling from any airsoft gun.

Accuracy: 8:10
Takes some tweaking, but it’s an overall good gun for minor sniping. If you can’t afford the cheap sniper rifles coming out, this gun will get most of the job done for you once you’ve adjusted it properly.

Durability: 10:10
Like a rock…or is it a Chevy? Anyways, a tough rifle that you can PT with if need be, as well as do some good skirmishing with.

Good Gun to Get?
Yes, defintitely. Especially if you want an M14 that isn’t going to cost over a hundred dollars.

Airsoft Grenade Tactics

Airsoft Grenade Tactics

As airsoft gets more and more popular over the years, manufacturer’s race to manufacture products that can deliver more action and realism into the sport. The realism of airsoft has evolved incredibly! One such innovation being an airsoft grenade. Airsoft grenades are now a major influence in most airsoft skirmishes and MILSIM games & a must have for most proffesionals. There is a lot of thought and process that goes into making airsoft weapons, manufacturers work endlessly in the design to make it look, feel, & function much like the real weapon. The airsoft grenades are no different.

Airsoft hand grenades are small antipersonnel weapons made to be thrown manually by hand, and explode a few seconds later (anywhere from 1.5 – 3 seconds). An airsoft hand grenade will usually have a “kill” radius of 10 to 20 meters and can spray anywhere from 30-100 airsoft bbs. It is also important to keep in mind the blast pattern of the grenade, this will depend on the design and quality of the grenade. Some airsoft grenades will require more skill than others because of the blast pattern it has, throwing it the wrong way will result in the airsoft bbs all blasting into the ground instead of actually hitting your enemy.

If you have never been good at throwing objects a far distance much less with accuracy there is a solution for you as well. Airsoft grenade launchers are designed to launch your grenade faster! farther distances! and with better accuracy! Airsoft grenade launchers are available in different forms, they are available as a stand alone weapon, an attachable piece to a rifle, or already part of a rifle. Airsoft grenade launchers that attach to a rifle will usually be mounted under the barrel. It is recommended that if you are buying an airsoft rifle with a grenade launcher already assembled into the weapon you check to see that the airsoft grenade launcher can be unmounted, that way if there is no need for grenades in the game you don’t have to tote around a grenade launcher under your airsoft rifle barrel.

There is one big drawback to all this excitement and hype with airsoft grenades. A decent airsoft grenade will cost you around $40 and the better ones are even higher at prices of up to $120. Many of these airsoft grenades are comprised of multiple pieces some being really small like the holding pin for example.

Throwing one of these airsoft grenades in the middle of an intense airsoft battle with lots of adrenaline pumping can leave you not remembering where you threw your airsoft grenade or in what area it landed. Many airsoft players even after finding their grenade were not able to find all the pieces.

Airsoft grenades are a must have for players that have been in the game for a while, not to mention it would also look really nice hanging from your airsoft gear! They can add excitement and much more realism into an airsoft skirmish, best of all you can use airsoft bbs that have already been used to fill up your airsoft grenade. This is definitely something you should have in your stable of airsoft weapons.

Cheap Airsoft Guns

If you are looking to dive into the exiting and fast-growing sport of airsoft, perhaps you are concerned about finding the right gun that won't break the budget and will allow you to jump in at a decent price. While there are several high-tier guns that can cost you quite a bit, you probably would want to wait on such a gun until you are well established and more skilled in the sport of airsoft. The truth is that there are many cheap airsoft weapons on the market which will go along way for the average player. However, before you start searching, it is wise to educate yourself as to the varieties of airsoft guns available and how they operate.

There are three different categories:

Electric: these are the most expensive, starting around $200-$300+; consist of an electric motor and battery pack. Require the most care and maintenance to keep up;

Gas Powered: powered by compressed air and simulate a real recoil, or "blowback". Moderately priced, non-blowback models start around $40+; need to maintenance the compressed air;

Spring Guns: known as cheap airsoft pistols and rifles, or "springers" use a spring mechanism to fire; the original airsoft gun. Little to no maintenance needed.

Spring guns (springers or cheap airsoft guns) are the original airsoft guns. These guns shoot by using a mechanized spring which needs to be cocked for every shot fired. These are the least expensive airsoft guns and are most popular among beginner players and casual hobbyists. The great majority of airsoft players use these cheap airsoft guns either during practice, or as a backup gun. Because the construction of these cheap airsoft guns is fairly simple, they can be found online and in some stores for as little as 20 bucks.

Keep in mind that although they are called cheap airsoft guns, and do not cost that much, there is no reason to be concerned about quality, these are great guns. While there may be some cheap knock-offs of airsoft weapons on the market, as long as you find a cheap airsoft gun made by a reputable manufacturer, you will have nothing to worry about concerning its dependability, ruggedness, and overall quality.
